A copy from a reader:

I have an Amana #arb2117aw refer w/ bottom freezer. My icemaker stopped working.
after buying a new maker and harness it still didn't work.  After hours of research and testing parts, I found out the power for the ice maker goes through the freezer light switch.  If the door is open, there's no power to the ice maker to dump the ice. ( makes sense, don't want ice to dump on the bottom of the freezer ).
My freezer door was sagging slightly so no power was ever going to the ice maker. I fixed the door and it works fine now.

Bob.

Useful tip from Bob, so we expanded on his tip and now offer this page. Most/many of the Maytag and Amana bottom freezer refrigerators run the power for the icemaker through the freezer light switch. With the freezer door open, the icemaker will not work.

Example switch:

Light switch, 3 terminal
