Dishwasher Child Lock

Some "how to set" the child lock and unlock the the child lock setting for some of today's common dishwashers...

A common Maytag:

  1. Press the Heated Dry pad for three seconds.
  2. An indicator light next to the lock graphic will illuminate when the controls are locked.

To Cancel:

  1. Press the Heated Dry pad for three seconds. ( webmaster note: sometimes you need to hold the button in for 5-10 seconds )
  2. The indicator light will go off.

A common Maytag:

SETTING THE CONTROL LOCK:

  1. Press the lock symbol pad for three seconds.
  2. An indicator light above the pad will illuminate when the controls are locked.

TO CANCEL:

  1. Press the lock symbol pad for three seconds.
  2. The indicator light will go off.

A common Whirlpool:

To turn on the lock

Press and hold HEATED DRY for 4-6 seconds. The lock glows. If you press any pad while your dishwasher is locked, the light flashes 3 times and the selection is ignored.

To turn off the lock

Press and hold HEATED DRY for 4-6 seconds. The light turns off.

To prevent children from accidentally changing the dishwasher cycle or starting the dishwasher, lock the dishwasher controls by pressing and releasing the RINSE ONLY pad (some models) or the NO HEAT DRY pad (some models) for 3 seconds while the door is latched. An indicator light on the lock graphic pad will illuminate when the controls are locked and no new selections can be made until the lock is released. To unlock the controls, press the RINSE ONLY pad or NO HEAT DRY pad until the indicator light goes out.

An indicator light on the lock graphic pad will illuminate when the controls are locked and no new selections can be made until the lock is released. To unlock the controls, press the DELAY START pad or AIR DRY pad until the indicator light goes out.

A common GE:

Children cannot accidentally start dishwasher by touching pads with this option selected. To unlock the dishwasher controls, press and hold the HEATED DRY pad for 3 seconds. The light above the lock pad will turn off. To lock the dishwasher, press and hold the HEATED DRY pad for 3 seconds. The light above the LOCK pad will turn on.
