Gas range conversion tips and help....

Gas appliances can be dangerous if not repaired or set up correctly...if in doubt...call for professional services from an appliance technician or local gas utility. Some ranges need kits to convert from natural gas to propane or from propane to natural gas. If in doubt post a model # in the Q&A section and we will try to help with any information that we might be able to find for you.

Gas ranges have changed soooooooooooo much in the last 5-10 years that there is simply far too many different versions ( even with the same manufacture ) to write about them all. Below are some common makes/models available today, if yours is not like one of these post a model # in the Q&A section and we will try to help with any information that we might be able to find for you. First Step .... Check your Owners Manual to see if your range requires a orifice kit to convert it.  If so follow the instructions in kit or in owners manual. Some Ranges come from the factory with the orifices for LP, if so you'll find them in with owners manual.

  1. Amana Range - One, two, three, four.

  2. General Electric - One, two.

  3. Maytag ( Magic Chef - Crosley - Jenn Air ) - If your top burners look like this, you will need to remove the surface burners to convert the range from NG to propane. The fist sheet is for the "how to remove the burner". There is a tool to do this, but a rag placed on the burner could allow you to unscrew them with your hand, but they can be very tight. See the the tool here.....One, two, three, four.

  4. WCI - Frigidaire ( some Kenmore's ) - One, two, three

  5. WCI - Frigidaire ~open burners~ (some Kenmore's) - One, two.

  6. Some general pictures and helps on a gas range conversion.
